1947 Arnold MAC 700 Motorcycle (Red Version) in Original Box
Superb example of the amazing clockwork tin litho MAC 700 Motorcycle by Arnold with dismounting rider in its rare red version. Complete with super scarce original box and correct Arnold key. Consists of an articulated 3-dimensional hill climber racing motorcyclist riding an early post-war style motorcycle. Left side has start/stop lever. As shown on the instructions printed on the box it’s capable of 4 distinct actions. Depending on the position of 2 levers located on the cycle’s right side it performs the following intricate maneuvers: 1. Motorcycle standing, clockwork running, rider remains seated 2. Motorcycle standing, clockwork running, rider dismounts by raising his right leg and swings it over the seat, then stands on the left side bike, then remounts by raising his right leg over the seat and is then reseated. All this occurs while the bike is still moving. 3. Motorcycle drives in circles. Stops. Rider dismounts by raising his right leg and swings it over the seat, then stands on the left side bike, then remounts by raising his right leg over the seat and is then reseated. Cycle restarts. 4. Motorcycle drives in circles. Rider remains seated. Best of all everything works. And yes, the right leg clears the seat as it’s swings over to the left side. The secret behind the toy lies in the handlebars which lifts the rider causing him to pivot and turn on his left foot. Box graphics feature two riders signaling each other as they mount and dismount their motorcycles. Rear panel includes the all-important instructions for operation.
